The onion is a plant whose scientific name is Allium strain.  In Mediterranean cuisine, it is a very common food, which is present in the daily meals of a large majority of families. The origin is unknown by concrete, however, it is suspected that it was in Central Asia that the first onions were grown in India and China. Even today, these are among the largest onion producers on our planet.
